First thing first: apologies if throughout various posts on my blog, I refer to the bag I’m wearing in this look as a “fanny pack.” I know the ~fashion~ thing to do is to call it a belt bag (or a bum bag, if you’re British), but sometimes I default to the old-fashioned and totally not-cool-anymore vernacular that I grew up with. Fanny packs were what tired dads wore while wrangling their sunburnt children at Disney World or what super fit girls wore over their fluorescent windbreakers en route to aerobics class in the ’80s. Belt bags might look the same as what those people wore, but their revival courtesy of designers like Gucci and Chanel apparently warrants a new, more sophisticated name.
Regardless of what you call this season’s must-have bag, you can’t deny that it can make any look edgy and that being handsfree is a nice perk. Do you guys have one of these bags? I got a red one from Topshop this spring and I’m finding it a lot more wearable than I imagined, which is why I recommend you try out this trend. You might surprise yourself and like it as much as I do. To give you a head start on your belt bag obsession, I rounded up my favorites from the high street and the high-end shops. Check them out below and let me know which is your favorites in the comments!
