From about the age of 11 to 20, I never wore graphic (or slogan) tee shirts. When they confronted with them in a store, I took a sharp right turn towards blouses or button-downs. When my mom told me to “just wear jeans and a tee shirt,” I told her that wasn’t possible. Now, at the ripe ’ol age of 21 (please note the sarcasm there), I have realized the error of my ways with graphic tees having become a mainstay in my wardrobe. I can’t tell you why I shirked away from such an essential item for so many years (it’s a mystery to even me), but I can tell you why I now wear them all the time: Graphic tee shirts are complete chameleons. They come in endless colors and fits, emblazoned with every possible image or phrase. The result is whimsical shirts, edgy shirts, polished shirts, cool shirts… the list goes on and on.
In these photos, I’m wearing a seemingly sassy yellow number that fakes out anyone who reads it closely. Rather than being “born to be wild,” I was in fact “born to be mild” and this shirt lets the rest of the world know. I paired the top with camo jeans and a red belt bag that perfectly matches the red text on my shirt because, in such a bright and bold outfit, some continuity is needed, right?
Unfortunately, my tee shirt from the brand Adolescent Clothing is currently out of stock, but with the sheer amount of graphic tees out there in the world, it really shouldn’t matter!
