If you’re wondering where I’ve been for the past two months, rest assured that I am now back to blogging for good. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but back in January I spilt water on my laptop and lost years of past data (word documents, calendars, photos) and also weeks of upcoming blog photos. Rather than scramble to redo those shoots, I decided to take the time off blogging and come back with a bang. And coming back with a bang means turning myself into a cautionary tale, so please indulge me and heed my warning: Do not store countless memories on a hunk of metal because small accidents can wipe them out so quickly. When half a cup of water makes contact with your Macbook and causes irreversible damage, you should be able to just access your back-up and resume life. In the words of Lil’ Jon in “Get Low,” BACK IT UP. You don’t want to be the first customer to enter the Apple store on a Tuesday morning just to leave half an hour later in tears. Carrie Bradshaw (who else remembers the episode of Sex and the City where her ancient Macbook breaks? I you need a refresher, click here) and I implore you to back up everything important. It’ll save you A LOT of hurt.
Before I let you go, a quick word on my outfit. It seems that the new-found importance of backing things up in my life has infiltrated my wardrobe. That is in fact a cartoon face on the back of my huge pink (faux) fur jacket by Lazy Oaf. The item is extremely ostentatious, but I love pieces like that. I paired it with a pretty pastel sweater and kept my lower half simple with white jeans and white sneakers, because when you’re essentially a giant pink fur ball, some aspects of your look must be tame.
I am so excited to get back to blogging and am going to try infusing more of personality and opinions into my writing. Hope you enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to show you all there is to come!

So sad to hear about your laptop! That’s honestly my biggest fear. I could definitely be more diligent about backing up everything I have. Your outfit is amazing and just perfect for spring, I love all the bright colors! I bet it’s glad to be back, you’ve been missed.

I forgot to ask, how do you get the panel of widgets on the bottom of your blog that says “come find me”, “looking for something”, and “I’m a social butterfly”?

So the map and social media icon widgets are available with my theme, which is from Pipdig. I then changed the title to say those particular things. The search engine widget is from WordPress, but again I changed the title to say “looking for something.” I also chose to put these widgets in the footer, but they can be customized on the widget page to put them in the header, sidebar, or wherever else. Hope this helps 🙂

Ugh, girl, that’s the worst! But I feel your pain. I dropped one of my hard drives last year, that had thousands of photos on it and blog stuff, and just like that, it was all gone ;( Lesson learned. Have backups of the backups of the backups haha
